La Belle France!

I have finally arrived in Grenoble, France! After a long day of travelling from Chicago to Amsterdam, and then from Amsterdam to Lyon, and then a bus ride from Lyon to Grenoble, I am finally here in my French home-sweet-home! Seeing the mountains coming into Grenoble was absolutely breathtaking. These mountains would put Johnsburg's little molehills to shame, oh yes they would! It was absolutely incredible, and the mountains surround the city of Grenoble, so everywhere you look, you can't help but be amazed.

Je suis arrivé à Grenoble, France! Après une longue journée avec un vol de Chicago à Amsterdam, un autre vol d'Amsterdam à Lyon, et un bus de Lyon à Grenoble, je suis finalement ici dans ma maison française! Quand j'ai vu les montagnes en entrant la ville de Grenoble, je m'ai dit que la beauté, c'était presque impossible. Ces montagnes sont sans doute plus immenses que les collines à Johnsburg. C'était absolument incroyable, et les montagnes entourent la ville, alors on peut voir les montagnes partout.

I am living with a host mother while I am here, Mme. Messaoud. She is wonderful! Her apartment is adorable and comfortable, and she has a little cat named Tico who has been helping me unpack! Well, I unpack, and he sleeps in the empty suitcases. Her apartment has two floors and my bedroom is on the top floor, and it has everything I could ask for! A bed, a desk, a sink, two skylights... it is fantastic! I spent my first day here in the apartment with Mme. Messaoud. She made us salads for dinner and we had bread and cheese for dessert (très français!), and aside from that we relaxed, talked, and got to know each other a little more!

J'habite avec une femme qui s'appelle Fadila Messaoud pendant que je suis à Grenoble. Elle est très fantastique! Son appartement est adorable et confortable, et elle a un petit chat qui s'appelle Tico, qui m'aide avec mes bagages! Puis, je défais mes bagages, et il dort dans les valises vides. Son appartement a deux étages, et j'habite sur la deuxième, et ma chambre contient tout ce dont j'ai besoin! Un lit, un bureau, un lavabo, deux fenêtres...c'est absolument fantastique! J'ai passé mon premier soir avec Mme. Messaoud. Elle nous a fait des salades pour le diner, et nous avons mangé du pain et du fromage pour le dessert (très français!), et après ça nous avons parlé un peu, en français, bien sur!

While I am still feeling a little out-of-place here and a little homesick, I am ready to explore what Grenoble has to offer me, and I just know that within a few days, this gorgeous city will become my home-away-from-home!
